Sandbox Interactive Offers An Update On Last Weekend’s DDoS Attacks And Related Issues
Sandbox Interactive has released an update on the DDoS attacks, disconnections, and payment issues that Albion Online has been experiencing since the weekend. In their latest forum update, the studio expressed disappointment over the disruptions and reiterated their commitment to providing a smooth and seamless gaming experience.
According to the studio, the issues all stemmed from the ongoing DDoS attacks and while they’re doing their best to mitigate its effects and keep the community informed, it’s still unclear whether they’re truly out of the woods.
“The bad news is that, since the attacker is extremely dedicated and creative in their efforts, it is likely to take some more time to fully prevent them from having any impact on Albion Online’s systems,” said the devs. “We and our server host are working tirelessly on proper solutions for healing the frustrating situation. We are committed to overcoming this problem as soon as we can.”
They also promised compensation for all affected players and will start putting together an appropriate compensation package once things have stabilized.
Apart from disconnection issues, the DDoS attacks also caused other problems including zone crashes, overloaded servers, and synchronization issues. Players also reported failed purchases on iOS, all of which should have gone through following yesterday’s maintenance.
Sandbox Interactive also warned of the possibility of more attacks even as they work to improve their security. In the meantime, the team asks players not to should another attack or outage happen, although they’ll still address reports about bots and other illicit activities within the game.
