Ark: Survival Evolved Modders May Earn $4,000 A Month

If you make mods for Ark: Survival Evolved you may be handpicked by Studio Wildcard to start earning $4,000 for your contribution to the community. In an interview with GamesBeat, lead designer Jeremy Stieglitz and community manager Cedric Burkes discussed The Ark Sponsored Mod Program.

The catch? None. They just want modders who do good work to earn good pay. Modders have typically been crucial components of a game's success. Think of Skyrim, Fallout 4, possibly Conan Exiles. And Stieglitz and co. want to give back to the modders who create great content and have helped Ark become the popular survival title it is.

“This fits in the trend of the space between pro development and modders getting shorter,” said Stieglitz. “There’s not a lot of space there between a modder and someone who is working at a studio. The only difference a lot of the time is that one is being paid for their work and the other isn’t.”

Studio Wildcard has the funds to run the Ark Sponsored Program, but that doesn't make it any less surprising. I wonder if it's a way to scout talent that could then be absorbed into the game.

Now let's see if any other companies follow the same path.
