Dark And Darker Launches Into Early Access Despite Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

Despite Ironmace’s Nexon, the studio has gone ahead and launched Dark and Darker into early access. Rather than wait for the game to be reinstated on Steam, the studio has partnered with Chaf Games to release the game on their platform while selling currency and founder’s packs through its own storefront.

“We want to address the elephant in the room and talk about the addition of the in-game shop,” Ironmace said. “Our assumption when we started this company was that you could still build a lucrative business while being true to your fans. The in-game shop is our attempt at being realistic with the business of running an online game but trying to find a way to do it without resorting to random loot boxes and FOMO items.”

The studio also noted that the PvPvE dungeon crawler is still in the early stages of development and is ittedly missing several key features. Players will likely also encounter various bugs and issues which the team describes as “growing pains.” Additionally, VoIP has yet to be enabled as the studio’s legal team works to ensure that third-party and data agreements absolutely foolproof to avoid potential legal issues.

Meanwhile, that same legal team is going toe to toe with Nexon to fight stolen codes and assets from a scrapped project called Project P3.

If the threat of a copyright takedown isn’t enough to sway you away from the game, you can purchase the early access title on the official site starting at $35 for the Standard Edition.
