Final Fantasy XI Adds New Master Trial And Brings Back Taurus And Ahrimans Ambuscades

Despite officially being in maintenance mode for several years now, Final Fantasy XI continues to receive content updates every month. While the updates are noticeably getting smaller, they still include a few new things to do in the 22-year-old MMORPG.

This month’s update will add the new Master Trial which will pit players against August, the founder and king of Adoulin. Not July or September, but August. “[…] The guardians of Adoulin stand in your way, led by none other than August himself,” says FFXI producer Yoji Fujito. “Can you withstand the might of the legendary founder king of Adoulin!? A special reward and title await those who are victorious.”

Players can also expect a new month-long Ambuscade rotation featuring the return of Ahrimans and Taurus battlefields. “It's been a while since either of them have made an appearance, so you might want to brush up on your strategies for taking them on,” Fujito says.

The February update will also add several new items to the porter moogle’s list of wares and a host of other in-game items. You can check out the February update notes for more details, which are now live on the Final Fantasy XI official forums ahead of the update’s release on Tuesday, February 13.
