Hyper Universe Is Coming To The West This Year

In a surprise move, Hyper Universe to the West later this year. The game features one of the oddest casts of characters I've ever seen, but it stands out because of it and it is quite fun.

For those that haven't heard of Hyper Universe, it's a side-scrolling, two-lane MOBA. Teams of four go head-to-head in a unique MOBA arena where you can climb up and down ladders, shake the ladders to make enemies fall off of them as they try to escape, and make use of various other mechanics that generally only make sense in a side-scrolling environment. Furthermore, as it is a side-scrolling game, Hyper Universe features action combat in which you must aim each skill carefully. Much like the games of old, you can only aim in two directions—left or right—and part of the learning curve is learning the range on your attacks and those of your opponents.

Hyper Universe will be playable at PAX South this weekend and Nexon America has stated that they will announce information about tests "soon." In the meantime, you can find more information about the game on the official website.

Are you planning on playing Hyper Universe when it launches in the West? I've put over 24 hours into the Korean version of the game and I am looking forward to playing it in English on servers that are close enough that I won't have as much input delay. I will definitely be playing the Western release.
