MultiVersus Returns On May 28 As A UE5 Game With New Maps And More Characters

All-star PvP brawler MultiVersus is returning in a few short months as Warner Bros. and Player First Games confirms its official launch on May 28. We first got an inkling that the Smash Bros-inspired title will be coming back to life last week when its Twitter page showed signs of life after nearly nine months of radio silence. Now, it’s definitely real.

“MultiVersus will release with a new PVE mode, more heroes and personalities added to the roster, additional stages based on reimagined universes and environments, first-class online play, improved visuals, and much more,” reads the official press release.

Player First Games nearly a year. The open beta featured two full seasons, battle es, several new character additions, and live microtransactions. Imagine the community’s surprise when the studio announced that it was shutting down the game as they prepared for its full release.

Those who purchased battle es and cosmetics during the open beta needn’t worry as the devs promised that they’ll still be there on launch day.

The studio apparently took advantage of the downtime to rebuild the game from the ground up and upgrade it from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. That’s on top of the new maps, characters, and PvE mode that will be included in the launch build. “Shaggy’s sandwiches have never looked better,” game director Tony Huynh teased.
