New Dual Universe DevBlog Talks About Economy Changes Coming Later This Month

Dual Universe dev blog talks about the changes coming to the sci-fi MMORPG’s economy system when the Alpha 3 update comes out later this month. First on the list of changes is Market Taxes. Flat fees, Value Taxes (percentage-based), and Storage Taxes will be implemented depending on the type of transaction. Players will also be given the ability to make changes to their market orders after a five-minute cooldown.

Players will be given the option to trade full-built constructs alongside materials, parts, elements, and other tradeables. “The first step in this process is known as construct tokenization, whereby a construct will be frozen and exchanged for a key which will act as a placeholder for the construct,” explains Novaquark. “After this, the player can trade the construct key to another through bartering. Once consumed, the purchasing player will receive full ownership of the construct. If an organization’s legate or another representative consumed the product, they can also do so for the organization, thus making the purchased construct entirely collectively owned!”

Alpha 3 also features the addition of new ores and the removal of others, as well as the introduction of two new pure gases, Oxygen and Hydrogen. Ore tiers have also been revamped. “With these changes made to elements, we now have over 30 unique products in the game. In addition to this, refining ores into pure materials now creates byproducts. For example, refining Garnierite into Nickel will now produce trace amounts of both Silicon and Oxygen.” Crafting tree changes will also be introduced along with new parts and more specialized descriptions for generic part names.

Lastly, Industry Units will be getting a makeover when the update rolls out with new specializations, appearance, animations, and UI. Players will be able to start industry jobs in two new ways: by running a set number of batches or by using the auto-run mode to maintain a certain number of stocks in a container.
