Blizzard Says It’s ‘Making Progress’ On Ongoing Overwatch 2 Launch Issues
Various issues continue to plague Overwatch 2 since it launched last week, although Blizzard reports that it’s making progress on fixing the root problems. The studio offered a detailed rundown of the key problems affecting the game and what it’s been doing to address them.
Blizzard had already removed the SMS Protect two-factor authentication requirement for most of the hero shooter’s existing community earlier this week following numerous complaints from the community. The studio also said that its quadrupled the capacity of all its servers to help alleviate queues, improved the matchmaking system, is hard at work on fixing issues with console linking.
Another pain point for players is Overwatch 2’s business model. For the sequel, Blizzard decided to switch from a buy-to-play to a free-to-play model with season es and microtransactions as its main revenue generator. While the season es allow players to unlock new hero, cosmetics, and other rewards, some players are complaining about the amount of grinding it will supposedly take to unlock the new heroes and all of its accompanying cosmetics.
One player has crunched the numbers and pointed out that Kiriko and all of her non-seasonal skins without spending money on the game. Unless, you’ve got nothing else to do, you probably won’t be spending that much time grinding for skins and will more than likely just resort to purchasing them outright at some point in the future, which is exactly what Blizzard would like you to do.
Meanwhile, Blizzard continues to hype up Kiriko with a new animated short that showcases the ninja healer’s endearing qualities. You can check that out below.
