PLAYERUNKOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Closed Beta Begins February 24th, Steam Early Access Soon After Closed Beta
In a recent blog post, TERA developer Bluehole Studio announced that PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS' Closed Beta will begin on February 24th. Once the Closed Beta begins, it will be accessible every Friday through Sunday for four weeks.
The Closed Beta comes equipped with improved animations, real-time global illumination, enhanced UI and experience, level streaming, the ability to destroy doors and fences, "a more precise recoil system," and more.
Bluehole expects to launch the game on Steam Early Access "shortly after" the Closed Beta has ended. While an exact date has yet to be set, we do know that, at the earliest, it will be available on Steam Early Access near the end of March. Once the game goes live on Early Access, the goal is to have it out of Early Access within six months.
Custom Games will be introduced during Early Access, with a small, but increasing, number of players gaining access to it as it develops.
In of monetization, Bluehole wants to allow players to purchase "cosmetic items only" at some point, but not until the Battle Royale game mode is fully developed.
