Population Zero Previews It’s Battle System, PvE, And PvP In A New Developer Video

Enplex Games gives Population Zero fans an early look at the sci-fi MMORPG's battle system in a new developer video. According to the official press release, combat in the game is designed to test a player’s skills and reflexes, and managing their stamina bar. Players will be able to use a variety of melee weapons, including swords, battle axes, spears, and mallets. Each weapon features unique moves that players can link together to unleash deadly combos, aerial strikes, or block and evade attacks.

“The setting of Population Zero, Kepler, is a truly mesmerizing world that begs to be explored. However, colonists should always be aware of the dangers awaiting in the stunning wilderness. Hostile alien beasts and other players can become forbidding obstacles on the way to claiming the new frontier. So every colonist has to learn to fight and defend themselves.”

The studio also sheds some light on how PvE and PvP battles will go down. PvE will feature the usual hunting tasks found in your typical MMORPG. Hunt mobs and bosses to acquire better gear, rinse, and repeat. The developers, however, introduced a number of unique features for PvP battles which can be unlocked upon reaching Level 1.

“Multiple consecutive deaths increase mutation level which eventually transforms the character into an overpowered creature called the Void,” explains the devs. “The players that turned into the Void get a new set of skills and a new objective - exterminate all colonists.”

Void players are overwhelmingly powerful but only get one life. They can take revenge on the players that killed them or team up with other Void to wreak havoc on the non-mutant colonists and their settlements. But, as powerful as they are, Void attackers can still be taken down by a well-coordinated group of players.
