Population Zero Shows Off Biomes And Talks About World Exploration In New Dev Vlog
Enplex Games has just published a new Population Zero dev vlog which gives fans some insight into the game world’s design philosophy along with a sneak peek at the different biomes that players will get to explore when the game officially comes out.
“We spent quite some time considering how to divide the gameworld into regions,” says Creative Producer Denis Pozdnyakov. “Initially, we wanted one large world. But then we understood that players would find it boring to run around a huge savannah or travel across a vast desert. So we began to split locations up into smaller segments.”
The entire world map is divided into seven different biomes with unique geography, gameplay, and mobs. Each biome also poses its own challenges. There are biomes, for example, that require the player to jump from one platform to another to get across it, much like a platformer puzzle game. There’s also a biome that will kill you instantly as soon as you enter it because of the heat, and one that requires players to outrun special mobs.
You can watch the full dev vlog below. Population Zero is scheduled to launch on Steam some time in May. The developers also recently gave out full retail and beta keys to encourage players to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
