The free-to-play MOBA-like Total War spin-off, Total War: Arena, has officially launched its North American servers. For the first time since the game entered closed testing, North American players can now play on local servers. Jan van der Crabben, Creative Assembly's Live Operations Manager, had this to say about the launch: “We are delighted to establish our server base in North America with our spearhead dynamic server technology, allowing players to matchmake with anyone in the world, and automatically be ed with the fasted connecting servers.”

This launch comes alongside the introduction of a new map. Called Alpis Graia, the new map is a "transalpine " that aims to provide an arena with "diverse terrain." You can see the new map pictured above.

In addition to the new updates, some of the game's previously announced major updates have been previewed in a video, embedded below. You can see the improved soft collisions and some of the new commanders, among other updates.

As always, you can sign up for the Closed Beta over at the official site. While takes place on the official site, the Beta is currently being distributed through Steam. If you live in North America and you previously signed up for closed testing, check your email. I received my Closed Beta key this morning.
