Valheim Rolls Out What Is Hopefully It’s Final Patch Before Ashland’s Long-Awaited Release
We still don’t have a release date for Valheim’s long-awaited Ashlands update, but developer Iron Gate Studio recently rolled out a polishing patch which it hopes will be the final patch before Ashland’s release.
Patch 0.217.46 introduced a whole host of fixes and improvements to various gameplay systems and updated the game engine to a later build. “This patch touches on everything from enemy spawning and build pieces to language issues and memory leaks. Most notably though, it features an upgrade of Unity and a significant change to how the game loads assets such as dungeons,” the studio said.
Iron Gate has also begun using a custom asset management system that loads and unloads assets on the fly instead of storing every asset in your rig’s memory. The studio, however, notes that it might affect the functionality of some mods, which fortunately doesn’t seem to be the case based on modder’s reactions on Reddit.
Whether the patch will actually be the last one before Ashlands remains to be seen.
This #Valheim patch does not contain the Ashlands, but it contains a lot of important fixes that need to be in place before it, including an engine update. Read the patch notes here: https://t.co/axfPnW0Q2U pic.twitter.com/iZzq7m1h0N
