Worlds Adrift’s Bossa Studios Shifts Focus To Co-op And Multiplayer PvE Games
Bossa Studios is back in the game after an extremely rough patch in its history following the release of th its ill-fated flagship game, the game’s shut down in 2019.
The studio has since dusted itself off and is back with a vengeance, and, after returning to single-player games in 2019, has now set its sights on co-op PvE multiplayer games.
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Bossa’s CEO Henrique Olifiers explains that this shift is driven by the studio’s experience and capabilities, market considerations, and the lower production costs of making PvE games compared to their PvP counterparts. PvE game design also allows for more creativity and originality in game development, while also promoting social interaction and cooperative gaming experiences, particularly among friends.
Olifiers also hinted at the studio’s next PvE project which will integrate -generated content to enable players to build game levels together. He confirms that the project will in no way be associated with Roblox.
As part of its co-op PvE game prototypes, Bossa’s Protohype initiative has been developing new game ideas, including the co-op survival game Reclaimed and the multiplayer first-person tower defense game They Come at Night. However, the success of these prototypes ultimately depends on the response from the community.
Bossa Studios seems to have found a comfortable niche in the world of co-op PvE games. While Worlds Adrift may have been a disappointment, it looks like the studio has learned from its mistakes and is now focusing on creating enjoyable multiplayer experiences that promote creativity and social interaction rather than competition.
