MapleStory 2 Overview
The long anticipated sequel to Nexon's flagship MMORPG, MapleStory 2 takes the franchise into the third dimension while retaining much of the charm that fans have come to love. While the core combat is similar to most other 3D MMORPGs, the game's charm comes from its unique emphasis on non-combat elements (housing, mini games, music, etc). MapleStory 2 takes place in same world as the original, but is set in the past which technically makes it a prequel. While many of the regions and monsters should be familiar to players, MapleStory offers a host of new features including player housing, destructible terrain, player made dungeons, mini-games, and more!

Development History / Background:
MapleStory 2 is the sequel to Nexon's best known MMORPG MapleStory. Unlike the original 2D sidescrolling style, MapleStory 2 opted for a 3D isometric graphic style. The game never found the same level of popularity as the original MapleStory. It took over 3 years for MapleStory 2 to go from a Korean release to a global release. The global version initially attracted a large playerbase, but quickly saw declining player numbers. On March 18, 2020 Nexon announced plans to shut the game down by May 27, 2020.
