Black Desert Online PC Gets A Big Skill Balance And Improved Dark Rift Experience

It’s fine-tuning time over at Black Desert Online with the PC version receiving a sweeping balance for all of its playable classes. The bulk of the update focused on tuning secondary class skills to buff underpowered and underrated abilities while nerfing those that were a bit too overpowered.

“Although each class has various skills, there is not much difference between players in the main skills used for PvE. However, there is a significant difference in damage between skills that give buffs and debuffs,” developer Pearl Abyss explains. “As a result, some classes naturally deal more damage while also obtaining necessary buffs, while others have to sacrifice damage in order to obtain buffs. To reduce this gap, we have made adjustments to increase damage for non-main skills.”

That’s just the first round though, as Pearl Abyss plans to roll out more skill balance updates over the next few months. Meanwhile, the developers also updated Dark Rift encounters to make it more streamlined and less of a hassle to complete.

Players will now face off against half the usual number of bosses as most of the Mediah and Valencia bosses have been removed from the encounter. The team also added Mythical Feathers and Boxes of the Howling Dead to the Dark Rift loot table while also increasing the drop rate of every other loot that drops from the encounter to hopefully encourage more players to take on the challenge.

The extensive patch notes on the Black Desert Online official site offers a detailed rundown of the recent changes.
