Blizzard Continues To Add More World Of Warcraft Classic Servers, Breaks Twitch Record For Peak Concurrent Viewers On Launch Day

Blizzard Entertainment have got their hands full trying to accommodate everyone. Most of the realms are constantly running at full population, and until the seemingly unending tide of humanity stops, the studio plans to just keep on adding more realms.

Two new PvP realms have recently been added, Anathema in the Pacific and Netherwind (can’t say the name without laughing) in the Eastern time zone. The new realms bring the total North American servers up to 30 and Blizzard is again strongly urging players to move to the newly added realms.

“We strongly encourage players who wish to avoid extended queues on crowded PvP realms to plan to move to one of these two new realms. We expect these new realms to have a population base that is easily sufficient to long a healthy PvP realm community.”

In spite of the new servers and the increased population cap for all the realms, players are still forced to deal with insanely long queue times. According to Kotaku, this has prompted a number of players to employ illicit “auto-clickers” to avoid going AFK and waiting for hours just to log back in to the game. The use of these questionable third-party programs is technically against the rules and may also affect queue times indirectly, but for now Blizzard seems to be turning a blind eye.

In other World of Warcraft Classic news, the game just set a new record for the highest launch-day concurrent viewers on Twitch. According to the press release, the game peaked at more than 1.1 million concurrent viewers and logged more than 6.1 million unique viewers within the first 24 hours.
