Bungie Confirms Destiny 2: The Final Shape Delay, Promises More Content In The Interim

Bungie has confirmed what every mass layoffs and project delays at the studio last month. The latest missive from the studio reveals that The Final Shape expansion has assuredly and unequivocally been delayed to next year, more specifically to June 4th.

“The Final Shape is the culmination of the first ten years of Destiny storytelling and, for Guardians everywhere, countless hours spent together. We want to honor that journey, so we’re taking the time we need to deliver an even bigger and bolder vision, one that we hope will be ed and treasured for years to come,” the studio wrote.

Consequently, Season of the Wish will be extended up until The Final Shape’s launch. The team, however, will be adding new content to bridge the gap between the season’s originally scheduled conclusion and the expansion’s release. This will come in the form of new weekly progression quests called Wishes and the return of the Moments of Triumph event.

Bungie will also be moving up the Guardian Games to March with a renewed focus on class vs. class battles, followed by a two-month content update called Into the Light in April. Players can also expect three new PvP maps to arrive in May. The team promises to share more information on the content in the lead up to their release.

In the meantime, players have a brand new season to work their way through when Season of the Wish officially begins tomorrow, November 28th at 9 a.m. PST.
