The Elder Scrolls Online Heads To Morrowind On June 6th

It seems that the rumors were right; The Elder Scrolls Online will be getting a Vvardenfell expansion entitled "The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind" on June 6th. But the expansion may be a bit larger in scale than we all realized. You see, the Morrowind expansion's Vvardenfell will be "the largest zone added to The Elder Scrolls Online since launch." It is such a large expansion, in fact, that it will cost $39.99 at launch and will not be given to players for free with ESO Plus.

The story of The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will take place around 700 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Players familiar with Morrowind will get to experience "iconic locations, characters, and storylines" in the MMO.

The one sentence description of the story is as follows.

Morrowind is in dire peril and it’s up to player heroes to help Vivec, the legendary warrior-poet and Guardian of Vvardenfell, solve the mystery of his mysterious illness, regain his strength – and save the world from ultimate destruction.

Morrowind is also bringing with it a new class: the Warden. The Warden will be the first class to be introduced to The Elder Scrolls Online since it launched in 2014. Like the game's other classes, players will have the freedom to build the class however they want. They will also gain access to "a devastating new combat ally," the War Bear, which will be a Warden-exclusive summon/pet-type creature.

A new PvP mode called "Battlegrounds" will also be introduced in Morrowind. Players will be able to head to the Ashlands where they will take part in "intense 4v4v4 battles in arena-like environments."

As has been done with many other MMORPG expansions, there will be several options available when purchasing the new Morrowind expansion. You can find more information about the various editions on the official pre-order page, but I am also including the text from the press release below.
