Elite Dangerous Odyssey Experiences Launch Issues, Sets All-Time Peak Player Record
Elite Dangerous Odyssey took its first official step into planetary exploration earlier this week, and as you probably expected, launch day didn’t exactly go as smoothly as Frontier Developments would have hoped.
The expansion’s launch saw a massive influx of space explorers that pushed the servers to their limit, prompting the team to temporarily disable Fleet Carrier jumping in order to decrease server load. The emergency measures seem to have resolved the server issues, but Fleet Carriers will have to remain docked indefinitely while the devs continue their investigations.
Meanwhile, Elite Dangerous has set a new all-time peak player record on Steam thanks to the newly-released expansion. According to Steam Charts, the game peaked at 27,568 players yesterday breaking the previous record set back in March.
Frontier Developments also rolled out a hotfix yesterday along with instructions for a workaround that should improve overall performance. The workaround involves deleting a couple of files from the install folder and restarting the game. Despite the hotfix, however, supposedly fixed issues continue to persist in the game.
