Fate Grand Order Makes over $1B A Year, Expected to Remain Highly Profitable For Years

Sony's wildly successful mobile waifu collector Fate Grand Order is expected to remain "highly profitable for at least a few more years" according to Takuto Takizawa, who works as App Annie's Japan country director. The game which launched in July, 2015 has made over $1.1 billion over the last 12 months and is expected to continue growing.

Unlike most Japanese gachapon games, Fate Grand Order actually monetizes a wide range of players, instead of just a tiny group of whales. It's worth noting though that the game does have its fair share of whales, as unlocking any 5 star servant in the game is quite rare (1% chance).
