Fractured Space Gets A Quick Play Mode

Edge Case Games announced earlier this week that it has introduced a new "Quick Play" mode to Fractured Space, which is replacing the game's Co-op vs. AI mode. The Quick Play mode works a bit differently than previous modes. When you a Quick Play match, the game's matchmaking system will check "how many players within your skill level are online when you search." It will then determine whether there are enough players for a full match or whether it needs to add AI Captains.

While Quick Play uses a matchmaking rating, the MMR in question is separate from that of the normal PvP mode's MMR. That being said, it is noted that "players with an already high MMR in PvP will be given a higher MMR in Quick Play to avoid them being matched with new players."

Edge Case Games gives several reasons for introducing the new Quick Play mode. One reason is that it wanted to improve queue times for new players and those who simply want to play a quick game or two to complete daily missions. Another reason is that, without MMR restrictions in Co-op mode, new players were being matched with high ranking players, thus being faced with AI that were too high level for them to be able to defeat.
