Survival Sandbox MMO Fractured Veil Launches Into Steam Early Access To Mixed Reviews
four times within the past two years, including a last-minute delay due to a server outage. The Hawaiian-themed survival sandbox MMO invites players to “kill, chill, and build” in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested version of the island of Maui.
The game comes with everything you’d expect from a survival sandbox title with RPG elements throw in for good measure, including procedural-generated points-of-interests, crafting, base building, an RPG-like quest and progression system, and multiple dungeons.
“Embrace the Aloha Spirit to chill in your choice of safe, social or PvP zones. Build with a quick craft and effortless building system. Take a killer risk into the jungle for greater rewards and endless exploration where you'll meet mutants and friendly vendors waiting to say Aloha."
Developer Paddle Creek, however, its that its still a work-in-progress with a whole host of things that need to be added or improved. While the current build is definitely playable, it suffers from a lack of quest variety and base defense functions, as well as missing audio. The studio promises to address those soon alongside PvP balance tweaks and performance improvements.
Unfortunately, the said issues have earned it “Mixed” reviews on Steam, describing the newly released game as clunky, frustrating, and generally “unfun.” Whether Paddle Creek can turn that perception around remains to be seen.
