Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 3 Episode 2 Launches September 20th

ArenaNet announced at PAX West 2016 that Episode 2 of the third season of Guild Wars 2's living world would be launching on September 20th. While we were unable to make it to PAX West ourselves, MMORPG.com has published a new article providing the details about the episode. As it covers the story for the second episode, this article will contain spoilers.

The episode is set in The Ember Bay, a new zone in the Ring of Fire Islands that is being introduced with the episode's launch. The map is said to be fairly large and players are advised to work on training their Ley Line Gliding Mastery so that they can get around quickly. However, a new Mastery called Thermal Propulsion will be added to the second tier of Ancient Magics, as well, allowing players to jump from point to point "like Nuhoch Wallows, but more explosive." Thermal Propulsion will cost 3 Mastery XP.

The episode begins with the awakening of the dragon Primordus. Players are tasked with checking in on Taimi, who has gone to check on the situation.

The Ember Bay will feature daily repeatable Heart quests. A number of Skritt activities are included, as well, ranging from helping the Skritt build defenses and ward off enemies to tossing "Skritt Juice" at the Pirate Queen Hughes to calm her down.

A new 5v5, "conquest style" PvP map called The Eternal Coliseum will be going live with Living World Season 3 Episode 2. It will feature three capture points and nodes for items called the Shield of Life and the Sword of Reaping. The Shield of Life gives the player that holds it extra shielding and health, as well as a single revive. The Sword of Reaping allows the wielder to finish off downed enemies.
