Guild Wars 2 Unveils The Next Living World Chapter ‘The Icebrood Saga’
Guild Wars 2 Living World content in a recent press release. Dubbed The Icebrood Saga, the latest addition to the fantasy MMORPG’s series of episodic content debuts on September 17th with the prologue episode: Bound by Blood. The new season brings with it a new story arc, new locations, and a new antagonist to deal with.
“The Icebrood Saga marks the beginning of a new adventure in Guild Wars 2’s storyline. It is a time of tentative celebration for all the races of Tyria in the wake of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik’s heroic defeat by the of Dragon’s Watch. But whispers from the Northern Shiverpeaks tell tales of ancient forces stirring from their slumber. While the Sons of Svanir—a renegade cult of norn who have turned away from worshipping the Spirits of the Wild—devote themselves to the elder ice dragon Jormag, stories of the dragon’s strength and virtues begin to spread alongside its corrupting influence.”
The Icebrood Saga will also introduce new Grothmar Valley and Northern Shiverpeaks bosses, including the newly-awakened Drakkar which was first seen in the first Guild Wars game. Strike Missions will also be added to the game when the new season goes live. “[Strike Missions] are epic 10-man boss encounters that combine the group coordination skills of raids with the large-scale conflict of a Guild Wars 2 meta event,” ArenaNet explains.
In preparation for the new season’s launch, the Heart of Thorns expansion will now be free for all players who own or purchase Path of Fire starting today. Players who previously purchased Heart of Thorns will get an exclusive Veteran’s Pack containing a Mordrem glider, the “Vanguard” title, and a gem store Armor Skin voucher.
