Magic: Legends Previews Multiverse Locations Available At Launch
Cryptic Studios gives Magic: Legends fans a glimpse at the multiverse that players will get to explore when the game comes out and how it ties-in with the Magic: The Gathering universe. Senior Writer Winter Mullenix talks about the different “planes” in a new blog post:
“Since its initial release in 1993, Magic: The Gathering has captivated the hearts of fans worldwide with an expansive Multiverse that now encomes more than 200 unique card sets and novels. Over the course of this journey, fans have followed as Planeswalkers travel to countless planes of existence, each with its own deep history, diverse inhabitants, and varied themes. This year, the release of Magic: Legends will empower fans both new and old alike to become the Planeswalker of their dreams and experience that expansive Multiverse for themselves like never before!”
According to Mullenix, Planeswalkers, a.k.a. the players, are powerful individuals imbued with the Spark that allows them to travel between planes of existence and experience different worlds and cultures.
At launch, Magic: Legends will feature three different planes: Dominaria, Zendikar, and Innistrad. Dominaria, was once a mighty civilization that stood at the center of the Multiverse. Zendikar is a scarcely-inhabited, constantly shifting plane of untold dangers that is scarcely-inhabited that has been reclaimed by nature. And finally Innistrad, a dark, gothic plane terrorized by vampires, werewolves, and other terrifying creatures.
Mullenix also reveals the game’s timeline which happens between the Great Mending of Dominaria and the the Hour of Devastation on Amonkhet.
“We can hardly wait for you to Planeswalk into the Multiverse for the first time and this is just the beginning,” concludes Mullenix. “We will be traveling to many different planes and regions following the full launch later this year.”
Magic: Legends launches into Open Beta in March 23, 2021.
