More Than Fifteen Years Later, Dark Age Of Camelot Is Getting A Cash Shop

As ever-evolving products in an ever-evolving genre, Dark Age of Camelot isn't the first game to announce such a change in business model.

The so-called "MTX items" will be introduced in an update that is set to go live late this Spring. It is stated that the cash shop will never be pay-to-win, but instead that "unique cosmetic skins" and "new mount types" will be some of the first items introduced. To facilitate the purchase of MTX items, a new "-based currency" called "Mithril" will be introduced. Mithril will then be used to purchase items at "specific in-game stores" in the same way that you would use other in-game stores.

The announcement was made as part of a recent Producer's Letter that also covers a number of balance changes that will be made in the near future. You can find the full Producer's Letter here.
