Blizzard Officially Unveils Kiriko And Drops More Info On Season 1’s Content

Over the past few months, Blizzard has been trying to keep the mysterious new a bit of carelessness on the studio’s part, we now have a clear idea of who that hero is going to be.

Regardless, Blizzard is still going through the motions to reveal the latest addition to the Overwatch 2 roster – Kiriko. The foxy ninja’s ability set allows her to rush to her allies’ side to provide ive buffs and healing while also dealing increased critical damage using her deadly kunai. Her ultimate summons a Kitsune fox spirit that rushes forward and temporarily increases the movement speed and attack speed of her allies and reduces their cooldowns, perfect for initiating team fights.

Kiriko will be making her debut in Season 1 and will automatically be unlocked for owners of the original Overwatch game and those who purchase the battle . She can also be unlocked by reaching rank 55 in the free battle track.

Blizzard also dropped more information about the 80-tier battle and future seasonal content which will alternate between adding a new hero or a new map. Themed seasonal cosmetics will also be available for purchase in the cash shop using Overwatch Coins. For Season 1, the general theme will be cyberpunk so expect to see a lot of neon outfits and cosmetics.

Season 1 will feature six new maps: Paraíso, New Queen Street, Colosseo, Midtown, Circuit Royal, and a new unannounced Push map, as well as several in-game events, including a redesigned version of Junkenstein’s Revenge.

Overwatch 2 officially launches as a free-to-play game on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 4th, at least for the PvP side of the game anyway. PvE and co-op mode will be rolling out sometime in 2023.
