Pearl Abyss Sees A Significant Revenue Increase In Q3 2023 After A Multi-Quarter Slump

Things are finally looking up for Pearl Abyss as the South Korean publisher finally sees profits after a multi-quarter slump.

Q2 2023 in particular was a trying time for the company as it saw a significant drop in its revenue from Black Desert Online even after the launch of its Land of the Morning Light summer expansion. The fantasy MMORPG, however, regained traction last quarter largely due to the trailing effects of the expansion’s release and its launch on consoles in July.

Pearl Abyss’s Q3 2023 financial report shows an 8.3% increase in revenue, bringing the company back to profitability despite being down 12% compared to the same period last year. Again, this is all thanks to Black Desert Online which saw a 21% revenue increase compared to Q2 2023.

On the flip side, EVE Online saw its lowest revenues this year, although things will potentially turn around next quarter. The space sci-fi MMO saw its highest concurrent player numbers for 2023 last weekend and will probably see more players return when its Havoc expansion launches next week. EVE Vanguard will also be launching into "Pre-Alpha Founders Access" next month which will hopefully bolster Pearl Abyss’s revenues even more.

The quarterly report also revealed that Crimson Desert won’t be launching by the end of the year as promised but will reportedly be making an appearance at G-Star 2023 next week.
