Phantasy Star Online 2's New M.A.R.S. System Launches July 31
SEGA announced a new update for their free-to-play MMORPG, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, set to launch on July 31. The update introduces the M.A.R.S. action system, enhancing combat with powerful temporary armaments.

Key Features of M.A.R.S.:
- New Combat Options: Players can activate the M.A.R.S. system during battle by completing the Main Task, gaining access to a range of powerful weapons for limited use.
- Diverse Armaments: Choose from various armaments like the VA-2MRM Nidhogger, each with unique primary and functions. Mixing and matching armaments can drastically alter combat dynamics.
- Skill Development: Earn M.A.R.S. Updaters from quests to exchange for Skill Points, which can be used to learn new skills, unlock actions, and enhance stats.
Additional Content:
- Practice and Training: The update includes a new M.A.R.S. Training Center quest that allows players to practice M.A.R.S. actions without time limits or rewards.
- Increased Difficulty: A new rank will be available in Aelio Combat Sectors and the Crimson Realm for a limited time, featuring stronger enemies to challenge players' enhanced capabilities.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis has averaged 1,480 players online on Steam over the last 30 days (vs 3,095 in July 2023). While the playerbase numbers are down for the Steam version, the game remains popular in Japan.
