Pokémon Go Coming To Apple Watch
Pokémon Go will be available for Apple Watch before the year ends. No release date has been announced just yet.
The more surprising news to me is that Apple Watch still exists; I've never seen one in the wild. But apparently it's doing well enough for Apple to announce a new generation: Apple Watch Series 2. It's not clear if Series 2 will be needed to play Pokémon Go.
Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke made the announcement at an Apple Event today.
Pokémon Go has been ed 500 million times since its launch and players have walked an estimated 4.6 billion kilometers (or 2,858,307,484.292 miles).
The idea is that playing on the watch will stop players from staring at their screens as they walk through crowded parks, desolate woods, and across busy highways.
I'm not sure how successful Pokémon Go will be on Apple Watch. The initial hype train is already slowing down, and Go's playerbase has been on the decline according to Bloomberg—which is natural to any game. I'm also not sure how successful Apple Watch is, but Apple certainly isn't giving up, either thanks to stubbornness or because they believe in their product. Hopefully, we'll get Apple Watch Pokémon Go numbers in December.
