RuneScape’s Ancient Awakening Update Adds New Necromancy Quest And Combat Arena

In the spirit of Halloween, RuneScape’s recently released Necromancer combat skill line with the release of today’s Ancient Awakening update. The update introduced a new Necromancer quest that will take them to the mysterious island of Ungael and will ultimately lead to a new boss fight next month.

“ed by a full adventuring party, featuring Raptor the mysterious warrior, Aster the butler, and Bill, the architect who featured prominently in RuneScape’s previous Fort Forinthry season, players will discover a powerful ritual underway which will have devastating consequences for the world of Gielinor,” Jagex announced. “During the quest, players will fight to stop the ritual, led by the necromancer Zemouregal, and in doing so prepare themselves for an epic new boss battle launching in November.”

After completing the quest, Necromancers can head over to the Ungael Arena where they’ll be able to test their necromancy skills against waves of Zemouregal’s minions and earn new titles, weapon skins, and a new look for Raptor.

Fort Forinthry has also been updated with a botanist’s bench that players can use to craft potions to aid them in the boss fight. You can check out the full Ancient Awakening patch notes on the RuneScape official website.

Meanwhile, Jagex finally succumbed to the community pressure and will be scrapping the highly criticized Hero system come December. More on that here.
