Sea Of Thieves Finally Gets Guilds As Season 10 Begins After A Three-Month Delay

Sea of Thieves after a nearly three-month delay, bringing with it the long-awaited guild system, a new season , and various combat improvements.

The season was originally supposed to begin in late July but was delayed to give Rare more time to work on it as it promised to be a pretty substantial update. However, it looks like the studio had only managed to complete part of the season update, although it’s definitely a big game changer.

“The first of Season Ten’s major features to arrive, Guilds builds on Sea of Thieves’ previous Captaincy update and allows players to expand their bonds with friends, enjoy asynchronous progression and work together under a shared banner to earn exclusive rewards.”

With the start of Season 10, players can now create guilds or player-created ones to enjoy exclusive benefits and rewards. Any player can a guild but only those who’ve worked their way up to the rank of captain will be able to create one. Each guild can have up to 24 , while players will have the option to be a member or own up to three guilds at a time.

Guild owners and member captains will be able to set aside one of their ships for the guild’s use. This allows each guild to form their own fleets and allow without ships of their own to guild crews or take one of the ships out to see when its owner is offline.

Guild fleets and crews can help their guild earn reputation points by participating in faction PvP and selling treasure chests. Reputation points will count towards guild progression which will also improve the guild-exclusive cosmetic rewards that they’ll get. These rewards include character and ship cosmetics, titles, trinkets, and cabin decorations. can also take on the role of Guild Emissaries to earn additional rewards.

Season 10 also introduced various combat improvements for more accurate hit detection and enhance sword combat. Quick-switching has also been removed to prevent players from being able to fire two ranged shots in succession by canceling the wield animation.

“While players may still find they can cancel the wield animation in some scenarios, there is no longer a competitive advantage to doing so and it may even extend the time between firing shots compared to a regular weapon switch,” Rare explained.

Controller aim assist has also been added in addition to other gameplay improvements, the details of which can be found on the Sea of Thieves official site. More features, including the Skull of Siren Song world event and Safer Seas PvE mode, are expected to arrive over the next two months.
