Star Trek Online's Lockboxes Are Being Overhauled, Agents Of Yesterday Trailer Released

Many games in recent times have made use of the polarizing lock box and Cryptic Studios is overhauling it, leaving only one lock box with "a single, massive prize table": the Infinity Lock Box.

Despite requiring a Master Key, as with any of Star Trek Online's lock boxes, the Infinity Lock Box is different than other lock boxes. Rather than awarding a single, random prize, players will be awarded an "Infinity Prize Pack" that gives them a choice of several items. The example given in the announcement is that one might be awarded an "Infinity Prize Pack: T6 Starship" that will allow the player to choose any of the T6 Starships that were available in any of the retired lock boxes that now make up the Infinity Lock Box's prize matrix. Once the Infinity Prize Pack is opened, the reward can then be "kept and opened for yourself, or freely traded/sold/gifted to other players."

Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment also released the launch trailer for Star Trek Online's expansion Agents of Yesterday earlier today. You can find it embedded below. The expansion goes live on July 6th.
