Warzone 2.0 Crashes Cause Players To Lose Hard-Earned Items In DMZ Extraction Mode
With the recent rise in popularity of extraction shooters, it’s no surprise that Warzone 2.0’s new DMZ extraction mode has been such a big hit since it first launched earlier this month. Unfortunately, it’s turning out to be a love hate relationship as frequent crashes cause players to lose all of the stuff that they managed to successfully extract with.
“This is the sixth time I lost maxed out loot,” one player lamented on Reddit. “Yesterday we played four games and in each game one of us crashed,” wrote another. Another Reddit said that the game crashed on him three times in one night.
The issue doesn’t seem to be limited to players with out-of-date drivers or weird configurations either and the number of complaints on Reddit seems to suggest a very widespread problem. It’s also apparently being caused by multiple underlying issues which the developers tried to address with a patch earlier this week, particularly the ones related to parachute deployment and Windows Focus Mode. Game crashes in general, however, continue to plague the battle royale shooter even after the patch was deployed.
In the meantime, players have been trying out all sorts of tweaks to try to prevent crashes while waiting for Raven Software or Infinity Ward to acknowledge the issue. While there’s no guarantee that they will work, there’s no harm in trying it out. Here are some of the things that you can try:
- the integrity of game files.
- Update your graphics card driver.
- Turn off overlays, i.e. Steam, Discord, or GeForce Experience.
- Try to set your display to Windowed Borderless instead of Fullscreen.
Despite the game’s popularity, it’s these technical issues that have caused Warzone 2.0 to get “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam. Otherwise, the game seems to be doing pretty well. As for the crashes, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more from the dev team.
