World Of Warcraft Classic’s New Hardcore Realms Now Open For Business
permadeath rules based on the community-imposed hardcore rules which have been modified to prevent cheesing and griefing.
When you die in the hardcore realm, you won’t be able to revive and will remain a ghost so you can communicate with other players to resolve any unfinished business. You’ll also have the option to transfer your character to one of the non-hardcore realms using a free transfer token should you wish to resume your journey in a more unforgiving environment or remain a ghost indefinitely. Otherwise, you’ll need to roll a new character and start from scratch.
Players on hardcore realms will also need to flag themselves manually for PvP as a measure to prevent griefing. Battlegrounds are disabled and quests that require a player to be flagged for PvP will no longer do so. Buff and debuff limits have also been removed.
Those who are willing to take the risk to earn bragging rights can participate in duels to the death, a feature unique to the new hardcore realms.
“Death in a Duel to the Death is permanent, just like any other death on Hardcore realms,” warns Blizzard. “The number of kills you receive in Duels to the Death are tracked and rewarded with a special cosmetic buff on your character called ‘String of Ears’. Anyone who clicks on your character will be able to see what a frightful combatant you are by the number of Ears you’ve collected.”
Note that you’ll need to have an active subscription to play on the new hardcore realms or any of the World of Warcraft Classic realms for that matter. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.
