World Of Warcraft Classic Opens Two New Season Of Discovery Servers

Season of Discovery servers are proving to be a hit as an army of players descend on the new realms for a taste of the new vanilla mechanics. As expected, launch day was fraught with various issues, prompting Blizzard to open two more servers in hopes of accommodating everyone.

According to Blizzard, the Season of Discovery servers were already the largest to be opened in the history of the long-running MMORPG, but they still struggled to handle the launch rush. In response, the team opened up two new servers, one each for NA and EU, and both named Chaos Bolt.

The team also reports that players are more or less equally split between the Alliance and Horde factions and promised to keep a close eye on server populations, just in case more servers are needed. We’re expecting some of the new season servers to eventually be merged into existing ones once the launch rush dies down, but for now they’re as bustling and as active as servers can be.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has rolled out a small patch for the Season of Discovery servers that caps PvP ranks at level 3 for the first phase of the season. The cap will be increased with each phase up to Rank 9 at level 60. After that, the cap will be increased every few weeks alongside the release of new endgame content, with the goal of reaching Rank 14 when The Temple of Ahn’Qiraj raid opens its doors.

Some trinkets also won’t be available during Phase 1, including Prince Nazjak’s Tidal Charm trinket and the Arena Master and Arena Grand Master trinkets.
