World Of Warcraft Classic Players Getting Kicked Out Of The Game For Bunny Hopping
Bunny hopping, or the art of jumping around as a combat tactic or as a form of communication has been around since the early days of shooters and MMORPG’s. However, those that have a habit of doing it in World of Warcraft Classic public test realm (PTR) could find themselves constantly being booted from the game.
Testers have reported an annoying and potentially game-breaking bug that causes players to instantly be disconnected whenever they’re bunny hopping and are hit by a stun or crowd control effect while in the air. The unfortunate bug has already claimed the life of one player on the Hardcore test server. Tragically, he was just five levels away from reaching the current level cap of 30 when he fell victim to the glitch. Ouch.
Unless the bug is fixed, it’s bound to happened again because the PTR build keeps characters in the world for a certain amount of time after disconnection, leaving them utterly defenseless. Blizzard is aware of the issues and is currently working on a fix that should be ready for deployment next week. In the meantime, the team advises players to avoid jumping in combat, which WoW Classic Producer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield acknowledges is much easier said than done.
“Asking WoW players not to spam jump is kinda like asking them not to breathe,” Greenfield joked. “Apologies, you can all have your space bars back soon, I promise!”
The aforementioned bug brings to light one of the major issues that Hardcore players will likely have to deal with when the WoW Classic permadeath servers officially open its doors. That’s what the test servers are for after all. For the time being, just try to keep your character’s feet on the ground, especially during combat.
