Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 "Storm of Falling Stars" Update Brings New Gameplay and Story Content
Zenless Zone Zero, the urban fantasy ARPG from HoYoverse, launched Version 1.4, "A Storm of Falling Stars," on December 18 for PS5 Pro, PS5, PC, and mobile platforms. This update introduces new story stages, combat gameplay modes, and enhanced visuals on the PS5 Pro.
While Zenless Zone Zero's launch has been weaker than HoYoverse's other titles (namely Honkai: Star Rail), the game is still pulling in big numbers and has jumped to the #12 and #2 spot in the highest grossing games list on the app store in the U.S. and Japan.
Key Features of Version 1.4
Main Story Overhaul
The update replaces TV mode in the Main Story with immersive combat and exploration. Stages from the Prologue to Chapter 3 have been redesigned, and players can now directly command Eous to explore the Hollows.
New Playable Agents
- Hoshimi Miyabi: A Frost Anomaly Void Hunter wielding the Ethereal-Slaying Katana, Tailless. She combines Icefire attacks with swift, devastating strikes.
- Asaba Harumasa: An Electric Agent who alternates between bow and blade, targeting enemies with Electro Quivers. Available for free to Proxies reaching Inter-Knot Lv. 8 after the update.
New Gameplay Modes
- Hollow Zero: Shadows Lost: A major combat update set in the Lost Void, featuring enhanced , new equipment, and skills.
- Deadly Assault: A periodic operation offering high-intensity battles.
- Reverb Arena: Includes Bangboo-themed tower defense gameplay.
Quality of Life Improvements
- Decibels are no longer squad-shared, allowing all team to use their Ultimates consecutively.
- A new Quick Sweep feature streamlines Shiyu Defense challenges.
- Progression and character upgrades have been simplified.
Story Progression
In Chapter 5, Proxies uncover truths about Sacrifice, Vision Corporation, and the Wise and Belle. The finale takes players to Port Elpis, where Section 6 leads a mission to unveil the mysteries of New Eridu’s leadership crisis.
PS5 Pro Enhancements
The update introduces ray-tracing technology and optimized performance, offering an upgraded visual experience for players on PS5 Pro.
