Best VPNs for MMORPG Games
We've discussed how to use VPNs to get around IP restrictions in previous articles, but I wanted to make a quick list here of the best VPNs for MMO games. As most readers are well aware, most of the games we cover on mmos.horseracingexpert.net are developed overseas, namely in South Korea and China. These games are typically available in their home countries well before they ever launch in the West, and that's if they ever launch. Phantasy Star Online for example has been available in Japan for some time, but it never got an official Western release, so if you want to play it you'll need to play on the Japanese servers and that isn't possible without a VPN, as these games have IP blocks. Over the years I've used numerous VPNs myself and even paid for some ones. Below are the best VPNs for gaming.
Best VPNs for Gaming
Soul Worker Online on NordVPN and it worked without a hitch. This is easily one of the best VPNs out there for gaming.
Nord VPN Features:

connections - Works in restrictive countries (China, Middle East) that limit/censor internet access

VyprVPN is by one of the best VPNs I've personally used for gaming. What's not to like? They have servers all over the world (but most importantly for MMO purposes, they have Japan and South Korea), are super speedy (I regularly get 2-3 MB/s with them), and fairly priced ($5/mo when you sign up for a year). There's no reason to pay up-front though. They have a 3 day free trial that doesn't require any credit card number. They offer unlimited data usage and 2 simultaneous connections at once. I discovered VyprVPN myself after trying to play La Place, but my other VPN (private internet access) didn't seem to work. Another reason I recommend VyprVPN is that their desktop client is super easy to use. , select a server, hit connect, and that's it. Unfortunately after the free trial, you do need to pay to keep using them. There are free VPNs out there (see VPN Gate below), but they will never be as reliable as something like VyprVPN. Free VPNs tend to be incredibly slow as they're used by thousands of people at once. Trying to game on a free VPN is near impossible. If you're looking to play foreign mobile games, VyprVPN has a mobile app too!
Dragon's Dogma Online. If you don't mind paying a bit extra, ExpressVPN is great. Mobile app included with subscription!
VPNGate is an open source VPN platform that lets s connect to countless public VPN servers. The main reason to use VPNGate is that it's free, but beyond that, there are a lot of downsides. All the servers hosted on it are public, which means they're likely overcrowded. I've used VPNGate in the past to play Black Desert Online (RU version), but reliability is a serious issue here. Expect high pings, slow speeds, and servers coming and going offline. I'm sure you could find some fairly reliable servers out there, but they're almost always going to be over crowded. Mobile app included with subscription!
I've personally used Private Internet Access for years to protect my privacy while using torrents, but I haven't had much luck with it for bying IP restrictions. I trying to use it for Dragons Dogma Online and La Place, but it didn't work. Private Internet Access is great for protecting your privacy / torrenting, but not so great for getting around IP blocks / gaming.
Well, there you have it. I'm currently actively subscribed to VyperVPN and use it to access foreign games with IP blocks. In fact, I recorded my La Place video on while on it and expect to record additional foreign games in the future using it. If I have any issues with it in the future, I'll update this post.
