Albion Online Game Director Talks Up The New Open-World Tracking System
Albion Online’s Robin Henkys is back in his comfy director’s chair as he dives into the PvP sandbox MMORPG’s tracking system. The system is designed to encourage more player activity in the open world on a wild goose chase to hunt down specific targets.
“With tracking, we want to introduce a new type of activity which challenges players to roam the open world in pursuit of a hunted target,” Henkys explained. “Unlike other open-world objectives, the focus isn’t to bring players into PvP fights over objectives but rather increase the number of players roaming the world in different group sizes and create more opportunities for incidental encounter between those groups.”
To participate in the hunt, players must first craft tracking kits and use them to interact with tracks that they’ll find in open world zones. Along the way, they’ll discover more tracks, initiate random encounters, and ultimately track down the final target. There’s also a chance that players will come across new shapeshifting weapons, artifacts, alchemy ingredients, and more with the first version of the tracking system. Additional content will be added in future versions.
More information about the new tracking system can be found on the Albion Online official site and in the new developer video below.
