Apex Legends ‘Emergence’ Update Brings New Character, Major Map Changes, And Ranked Arenas
The Emergence update is now live in Apex Legends with a new addition to the battle royale shooter’s collection of quirky characters. Meet Seer, a drone-controlling artist that can hear enemy heartbeats, track enemies through walls, and reveal the footsteps of nearby enemies.
“With microdrones and an artist's eye, Seer spots opportunities that other Legends might miss and seizes them in the most beautiful way he can,” reads the official patch notes.
The update also brings major changes to the World’s Edge map, including the destruction of The Refinery to be replaced by a bigger POI called the Climatizer. A bubbling lava river now connects the Climatizer to Fragment East, while the Sorting Factory has been swallowed by a massive sinkhole and has been replaced by the new Lava Siphon POI. Moving gondolas have also been added to Climatizer and Lava Siphon to provide a safe way of crossing lava flows and the new POIs.
“A metamorphosis has come to World’s Edge. After months of aggressive mining by the Harvester, the land is overmined, overburdened, and pushed to its limit. The earth has fractured and erupted as nature is reclaiming what’s hers. Hammond is scrambling to contain the damage they’ve caused. They’re using weather controlling machines to rapidly cool the area to sub-zero temperatures at the Climatizer and building a Lava Siphon to stabilize the caldera. The struggle between the inevitability of change and humankind’s arrogant attempts to control that change can be seen across World’s Edge.”
Ranked Arenas have also been introduced along with the new Rampage LMG, a new battle , and a long list of quality-of-life improvements, tweaks, and fixes.
