BitCraft Gets A Backend And UI Upgrade As Its Dev Prep For The Final Pre-Alpha Tests

Clockwork Labs has upgraded Bitcraft’s backend system and revamped its UI in preparation for the procedural-generated sandbox MMORPG’s jump to alpha testing. Following the conclusion of Phase 9 of its pre-alpha test at the top of the month, the team uncovered major bugs related to the game’s tutorial that it’s gone ahead and fixed in preparation for the final phases of the game’s pre-alpha testing.

“We learned a few lessons from this test,” said Clockwork Labs in its latest dev blog. “First, how adding a seemingly harmless step to the tutorial can drastically change the dynamic of a playtest, and second, how that seemingly harmless step could uncover a variety of bugs we would not have noticed otherwise! While this meant that this Pre Alpha wasn’t a smooth ride for the players, we did learn a lot, which is why we do these tests in the first place.”

The team says that they’re planning at least two more pre-alpha tests before moving on to alpha testing. Phase 10 will mark the last pre-alpha that will run on the old backend system and will focus on testing new tiered content and how long it will keep players engaged. After Phase 10, they’ll be running an additional playtest that will specifically focus on testing the stability and performance of the new backend tech.

Clockwork Labs has yet to announce the schedule for the final alpha tests but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as they announce specific dates or windows.
