Elite Dangerous Kicks Off Phase 1 Of Odyssey Alpha Test
Elite Dangerous Odyssey alpha test giving Lifetime Expansion holders and players who pre-purchased the expansion a chance to test out the expansion’s new first-person exploration features.
As announced last week, Phase 1 of the Odyssey alpha will focus on testing core systems and networking. Participants will have access to a pre-created character and will be able to engage in a variety of activities, including the new Salvage/Collect and Delivery missions. They will also have access to the new Apex Interstellar shuttle service to travel between settlements and starports without the need to own a ship. Space travel, however, will be limited to a single star system to maximize player interaction.
Succeeding phases will focus on weapons and balancing, exploration and the first footfall mechanics, and the expansion’s compatibility with existing game mechanics. Each phase will run for as long as the developers deem necessary to gather data and .
The expansion itself is scheduled for launch late this spring on PC and autumn 2021 on consoles on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
