Gameforge To Shut Down SoulWorker In EU/NA, Original Developer Announces Global Version
SoulWorker nearly three years after the game launched in the west. The good news is that the anime-themed MMORPG will be returning globally courtesy of Lion Games Studios, the game’s original publisher. The bad news is that transfers will not be possible and current players will lose all their progress.
Gameforge says that they will be discontinuing in-game payments on March 21 and will be shutting down the servers on April 30.
Lion Games followed up Gameforge’s announcement with a post of their own on Facebook:
“We would like to apologize to our beloved and active s concerning the service termination announcement from Gameforge. As Gameforge announced, current game service in EU/NA will end on 30th April, due to our publishing contract will be ended. But, we, Lion Games will make sure that we continue our service after transforming Soulworker services into our own.”
Lion Games says that SoulWorker global will be in line with the Korean version of the game. The studio also explained that the strict EU GDPR is what’s preventing them from transferring data from Gameforge to their servers.
A launch date has yet to be announced for the game’s re-release. More information can be found on the Gameforge official site.
Our Adventure is Ending...
Regrettably, we must announce today that the adventures in SoulWorker will soon be coming to an end: Gameforge will cease operation of the game on 30/04/2021.
