Heroes Of The Storm's Game Director Moves To Unannounced Project
Dustin Browder was the Game Director for Heroes of the Storm but he has now moved to an unannounced Blizzard project and handed off the keys to Alan Dabiri.
"This was not an easy choice to make. I still play Heroes five nights a week, and sitting in the bullpen surrounded by this team has been the most intensely creative experience of my career," writes Browder. "But one thing that’s making this decision easier is knowing the future of Heroes is in the right hands."
There have been a couple changes in the last couple of months, beginning with Chris Metzen's retirement:
Blizzard Job Listings Indicate Unannounced First-Person Shooter Project
And:
Ex-Blizzard And Ex-Runic Studios Devs Combine Powers To Form Echtra Inc. [not exactly Blizzard related, but "hey! this happened?"
So does that mean Browder has moved to a Diablo-FPS-like project? Doubtful. Who knows just how many different games Blizzard is throwing at the wall behind closed doors. And who knows which of those games will make it to public exhibition.
What we do know is that HotS' game director Alan Dabiri is a 20 year Blizzard veteran, who is already responsible for a number of changes to the game, including Hero Brawl. And Dabiri told Polygon that he wants to push Heroes of the Storm to the forefront of eSports in 2017.
I'm curious to see just where Dabiri takes Heroes of the Storm a year from now.
