Klingon Environments In Star Trek Online Are Being Reworked For The Year Of The Klingon

Star Trek Online in preparation for the launch of the Year of the Klingon event later this year. Star Trek Online Lead Environment Artist Scot Boyd and Senior Environment Artist Nick Duguid talks about the planned changes in the latest episode of the Ten Forward weekly stream hosted by Community Manager Mike Fatum.

According to the developers, Klingon missions with good storylines but outdated gameplay (i.e. the tutorial) will be revamped to bring it up to par with the current state of the game. The Khitomer map is being revised along with Part-wise which is being rebuilt from the ground up but will generally retain the same shape and layout. The goal of the map updates is to standardize Klingon architecture and style in 2410 and possibly add more civilian-looking Klingon structures. Environment lighting will also be updated with more warm colors instead of just dim red.

You can find out more about these changes in the video below. There’s also a summary of the video up on Reddit.
