New World Celebrates The Lunar New Year With Its Year Of The Dragon In-Game Event

New World is ushering in the Lunar New Year with feasts, fortune sacks, and fireworks in its Year of the Dragon event. The festivities will take place at Ebonscale Reach from February 7-20 where players will be able to cook up buff-granting spicy hotpots, offer tributes to receive fortune sacks, and watch nightly fireworks displays.

“Before corruption plagued the ancient structures, citizens of Ebonscale Reach offered tributes for good fortune and blessings,” developer Amazon recounts. “Awaken the ancient dragon spirit once again on February 7 through 20, but watch out. The Corrupted Maiden lurks in the shadows, waiting to snatch blessings from unsuspecting Adventurers. Longtable Banquets, Tribute Offerings, and Firework Ceremonies for event-specific rewards like Fortune’s Gift Sacks.”

Players who defeat the Corrupted Maiden will be rewarded with one of five Dragonscale armor pieces that make up the Dynasty New Year armor set. Fortune Sacks will also contain additional rewards, including dark matter, pristine gems, dyes, silk, coins, and dragon fish. Event details can be found on the New World official site.

Producer Romil Patel, lead seasons designer Patrick Smedley, and level designer Nix Du also talk up the Lunar New Year event in the new Forged in Aeternum video below.
