Old School RuneScape Gets A Mid-Level Boss In The Form Of Scurrius The Rat King
Jagex makes good on the first of the promised updates during Winter Summit 2024. The royal rodent is a new level 60 boss fight who can use all three combat styles and is designed to ease players into the old school MMMORPG’s PvM (Player vs. Monster) content.
He can be found hanging out in the Varrock Sewers and can be taken on either solo or with a group. “Scurrius can be found east of the ladder in Varrock Sewers,” Jagex notes. “If you’re struggling with your com, just follow the rats – you can’t miss ‘em!”
As a stepping stone to tougher boss fights, Scurrius will primarily reward players with experience points that they can use to level up their combat skills. He isn’t vulnerable to a particular combat style which means that you’ll be free to train your melee, ranged, or magic skills, although Jagex says that he’ll particularly benefit melee the most.
Scurrius also has a chance to drop a Rat Spine, an untradeable material that can be used to craft one of three new weapons: the Rat Bone Bow, Rat Bone Staff, and Rat Bone Mace. The new Rat Bone weapons grants a +10 increase to max hit when used against rats and Scurrius himself.
