Overwatch 2 Teases A Cowboy Bebop Collaboration Featuring Resident Gunslinger Cassidy
Season 9 thanks to a teaser at the end of the season trailer.
The clip shows Overwatch 2’s resident cowboy, Cassidy, on the desert-themed Route 66 map before the camera pans to a jukebox that begins playing the iconic intro for Cowboy Bebop’s opening song. Apart from that, there’s really no other information to go on. Based on last year’s One Punch Man collab, however, we’re likely looking at themed skins and cosmetics, and possibly a limited-time mode.
It’s probably also safe to assume that Cassidy will figure prominently in the event in some way, shape, or form. After all, he’s the most likely candidate to wear a Spike Spiegel skin. Sombra would make a good Ed, Vicious could be Genji, and Jet Black could be Doomfist since they both have mechanical arms.
It’s all speculation at this point, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as new information comes to light. In the meantime, Season 9 is set to begin today, bringing sweeping changes to heroes, gameplay mechanics, and ranked play.
